Adult Assessment Specialist

Summary This position is responsible for determining optimum Careertech program needs for offenders committed to a correctional institution; it also provides advice and networks with relevant partners concerning pre‑ and post‑release support to aid offenders in re‑entering the community. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalency. Preferred Knowledge of vocational guidance and social adjustment principles, available institutional industrial positions and future market trends, interviewing and counseling techniques. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate clearly, and determine which segment of CareerTech best suits each offender’s needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Uses interview techniques and assessment instruments to determine the offender’s programmatic needs; prepares case history reports and recommends program assignments. Advises offenders on employment resources, vocational skills, educational and training needs, and institutional adjustment. Delivers programs designed to assist offenders in successfully enrolling in CareerTech programs. Assists with or prepares reports such as number assessed, number moved, and number enrolled in CareerTech programs. Develops, monitors, and amends offender transition plans in line with re‑entry programs and services. Utilizes a collaborative network with partners to provide pre‑ and post‑release services for offenders, involving skills‑center staff, community resources, and social‑service agencies. Salary and Benefits $39,628.81 – $44,673.13 per year. The state provides a benefit allowance for insurance premiums (health, dental, life, and disability). The allowance ($9,051.60 – $21,942.72) is determined based on included dependents. State‑paid teacher’s retirement pension and flexible benefits plan. Vacation leave, 15 days of sick leave, and 11 paid holidays. Employee assistance program and flex‑time work schedule options. Total salary and benefits package valued at $53,337.42 – $71,652.54.
