Optic PositionAn optician is a trained eyewear specialist responsible for interpreting prescriptions, assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses, taking precise measurements, and ensuring that eyewear fits correctly. Opticians bridge clinical eye care and retail services, providing both technical expertise and patient-centered support. An optician should possess strong sales skills by demonstrating a high level of knowledge about our products and be able to recommend accessories or enhancements to the patient based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.Pay Range - $22.00- $25.00/hr. Commensurate with experienceResponsibilitiesGreets customers and assists with selecting frames based on prescription needs, fit, comfort, and styleEducates patients on lens materials, coatings, and technologiesExplains pricing, warranties, and insurance benefits related to eyewearReads and interprets prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologistsTakes precise optical measurements such as pupillary distance, segment height, multifocal alignment, bridge and temple measurements.Ensures eyewear fits correctly by adjusting frames for comfort, balance, and proper optical alignmentSubmits and tracks eyewear orders through in-house or external lab partnersInspects completed glasses for accuracy, lens quality, and compliance with prescriptionsPerforms minor repairs and adjustments, including replacing screws, pads, and templesInstructs patients on eyewear care, cleaning, and adjustmentsEducates about lens features and expected adaption periods for all lenses, especially progressive or specialized lensesEnters eyewear and lens orders into optical software with precise detailsPrepares orders for processing and maintain workflow efficiencyMaintains accurate patient records and order documentationCommunicates delays, remakes, and issues with orders.Assists with inventory and organize lenses, frame parts, chemicals, coatings, and retail suppliesContributes to the selection of new inventory from vendors and management of the frame board spaceParticipates in all daily huddles and team meetings as scheduled and requiredFollows all safety protocols for equipment, chemicals, and lab procedures; report any concerns to leadershipAdheres to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient informationEnsures compliance with optical industry standardsMaintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalismContributes to the team effort by completing additional tasks and projects as directed.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience requiredDispensing Optician License required.Minimum of 5 year opticianry experienceStrong reliability with good attendance and punctuality.KEY SKILLSStrong knowledge of optical theory, lens materials, and frame anatomyProficiency with lensometers, edgers, and related optical toolsUnderstanding lens materials, coatings, and measurementsAbility to read and interpret optical prescriptionsAttention to detail and precisionProblem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesCompany BenefitsWe offer a competitive benefits package to our employees:MedicalDentalVision401k w/ MatchHSA/FSATelemedicineGenerous PTO PackageWe also offer the following benefits for FREE:Employee Discounts and PerksEmployee Assistance ProgramGroup Life/AD&DShort Term Disability InsuranceLong Term Disability InsuranceEyeSouth Partners is an equal opportunity employer.
