Summary: Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director or Manager of Emergency Department How You'll Contribute As an RN at Maria Parham, you'll: * Deliver compassionate, high-quality care across a variety of patient needs * Utilize your clinical expertise to guide and implement individualized plans of care * Serve as a patient-care innovator, using the latest technology and best practices * Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes What you will do * Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities * Documents patient care provided. * Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family. * Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation. * collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs. * Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition and circumstances. * Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient * Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. * Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed. * Maintains regular and reliable attendance * Performs other duties as assigned. Populations Served: * Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult * Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Board * Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees * Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications and latex.
