Senior Forensic Engineer

Founded in 1954, Halliwell Engineering Associates is one of the nation's leading forensic engineering, architectural, and construction consulting firms dedicated to providing independent and expert advice to the insurance and legal industries, building owners, institutions, and government agencies. We specialize in failure and damage assessments, restoration, and remediation consulting, building envelope assessments, claims support, and expert witness/litigation, support for thousands of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, and properties nationwide.

Purpose: We are searching for an engineering with 5+ years' experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer. The position will be responsible for the assessment of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures throughout the region. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing structural and building failure analysis, evaluations on damaged structures, and/or conducting facilities/building condition assessments.

Key Accountabilities

• Assess and evaluate the condition and potential cause of distress to a wide range of structural buildings and facilities.
• Perform field investigations of site conditions and subsequent analyses of structural components.
• Produce written reports detailing findings of investigations, including conceptual repair recommendations.
• Work with an inter-disciplinary team of engineers and construction consultants as part of investigations.
• Receive mentoring from senior engineering staff and provide mentorship to junior staff members.
• Develop and maintain client relationships through projects and team-related activities within the region.

Experience and Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Pennsylvania. Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis, evaluation, and design of structures (buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, etc.) or building envelope systems. BS degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering or Architecture. MS degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering or Architecture is a plus.

Skills

Experience in Microsoft Office suite, structural analysis software, and CADD software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational and project management skills. Ability to work well within a team.

Must be physically able to perform investigations in the field (including climbing ladders, carrying inspection tools, stooping, kneeling, etc.). Approximately 20% travel.
