Travel Histology Technologist - $1,776 per week

Job Description & Requirements Specialty and Details Specialty: Histology Technologist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Duration: 9 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Histology Tech Location: Not specified Contract Length: Not specified Job Summary Validates specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type and size, prioritizing workload according to handling protocols defined in section manuals within established turnaround times. Processes specimens using the tissue processor, ensuring correct order of solutions and programs for each type of processing. Embeds tissues and sections at least 30 blocks/hour on the microtome to the correct thickness, producing the correct number of sections and slides for each specimen or block type. Performs routine staining procedures, including AFB, MSN, Gram, and Oro, on mounted tissue sections or body fluid preparations for the demonstration of specific tissue elements or microorganisms. Coverslips slides at a minimal rate of 3 slides/min, labels, and distributes slides for interpretation by the pathologist in a timely manner. Assists with liver biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and retrieves fresh specimens in various labs and suites. Performs inquiry functions and troubleshoots problems. Required Qualifications Registered Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) HT-ASCP Cert-Histotechnician or HTL-ASCP Cert-Histotechnologist Associate's Degree in Science or Histology Knowledge of hospital and laboratory operations Effective communication skills Sound independent judgment Basic knowledge of computer functions Working knowledge of basic special stains and paraffin tissue sectioning Ability to operate tissue processors, stainers, embedding units, cryostats, microscopes, and centrifuges No less than two years of paid experience, preferably in a hospital or reference lab Preferred Qualifications Experience with special stains, frozen sections, and non-gyn cytology processing Additional Information Routine histology prioritizes quality over speed Shift: Day (8am-4:30pm, M-F) Candidates should work out parking compensation with their agency; neither TCH nor RightSourcing is responsible for parking RightSourcing IHS Job ID 37557405.
