Position Summary This role is responsible for supporting business growth by identifying customer needs, developing technical solutions, and driving new business opportunities from concept through launch, with a focus on aerospace fuel pump applications. The position works closely with business development, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to evaluate requirements, provide product recommendations, and ensure technically sound, commercially viable solutions. It requires strong problem‑solving skills, cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Essential Functions Develop project objectives by reviewing technical requirements and conferring with senior management. Determine project responsibilities, staffing, resources, and costs. Ensure projects meet schedule, cost, and technical expectations through effective leadership. Communicate and coordinate directly with other senior technical representatives (suppliers, customers, government) to reach agreement on technical issues. Maintain frequent formal and informal customer interface to present project status. Evaluate project specifications and proposals by studying product or system design and customer technical program requirements, including performance, service, support, and data requirements. Identify product and technology risks related to project cost and schedule. Control the project plan by reviewing changes in technical requirements and recommending actions to achieve milestones. Control project costs by reviewing non‑recurring and recurring costs, monitoring and approving quotes and expenditures; may administer and oversee outsourced contractor contracts. Maintain efforts within defined cost and schedule constraints, provide status and root‑cause/corrective actions of variances. May act as Control Account Manager for projects applying Earned Value Management. Projects frequently include long‑term R&D development cycles. Prepare and review technical project work prepared by others (system schematics, layouts, algorithms, transfer functions, test plans, procedures and reports) by applying scientific and engineering principles and technical judgment. Advise and monitor regulatory and intellectual property concerns. Ensure consistent engineering standards, processes, and documentation methods are used in project deliverables. Establish and maintain engineering history files, project files, and related information to archive technical project activities. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional associations. Act as consultant to management on technical and project‑related matters. Identify mentoring and development needs; serve as a mentor for other employees. May be asked to support/assist high performance team and lean manufacturing initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or a related science technical discipline; Master’s or Ph.D. advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job, typically acquired through 10-12 years of related experience . Thorough in‑depth knowledge of engineering domain (mechanical, electronic, packaging, etc.), industry practices, concepts, techniques, government regulations, and policies. Ability to apply broad knowledge from related engineering or scientific fields to area of expertise. Strong facilitation and team‑building skills. Ability to communicate and influence varied audiences to gain support or resolve issues, and to make effective presentations on complex topics to top management, customers, and stakeholders. Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of related engineering areas or experts within own area of expertise. Proficient with software and specialized data analysis, design, and project management tools following established protocols. Ability to manage multiple or major project deliverables and provide technical direction to team, customers, or suppliers at project milestones. Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other internal teams. Proficient with standard project management tools and practices. Ability to apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to manage scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
