Substation engineer

job summary:
Our client is looking to add a substation engineer to their growing team. This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity located in the North Haven CT area. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in substation electrical design. This person will understand how to develop AC/DC schematics and wire diagrams for substations and will also understand substation primary design.

• Learn and apply all aspects of physical substation design, including:
  
  
• General arrangements, elevations, raceway and grounding plans, lighting protection, station service systems, and control building layouts
  
  
• Preparation of associated bills of material
  
  
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment, evaluate vendor proposals, and review vendor drawings
  
  
• Perform technical calculations and develop reports for grounding, lightning protection, yard lighting, and AC/DC load studies

• Develop AC/DC schmatics and wire diagreams for substations

• Substation primary design

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent

• Experience level: Experienced
• Minimum 4 years of experience
