Industrial Engineer

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking to hire an Industrial Engineer to provide support and direction for the manufacturing processes with US Spring. The Industrial Engineer will establish methods for controlling production costs; develop programs for reducing those costs, and asset control. So, what will you be doing as an Industrial Engineer?

• Developing a basic knowledge of all equipment and manufacturing processes used at US Spring Branches
• Building product familiarity, including the product costing structures.
• Develop performance measures and standards.
• Develop and maintain incentive rates and wage incentive plans by using work measurement techniques and predetermined time studies (MOST). Standardize rates across the group.
• Communicate wage incentive systems to the Branch Managers, Manufacturing Managers, Branch Accountants, and Branch Partners
• Review branch quarterly payroll records, and incentive payouts to ensure proper calculations at regular intervals.
• Monitor machinery utilization, efficiency reports and evaluate work performance.
• Create and maintain layout drawings for production areas and facilities using Visio or other drawing program and continue to look for opportunities to optimize flow.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance teams on the commissioning of new equipment.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, and Employees on workflow improvements.
• Continuously look for ways to improve safety and ergonomics of operations.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Manufacturing principles to optimize processes.
• Strive for continuous process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
• Perform operations research, including queuing theory, linear programming, and statistical analyses.
• Calculate Return on Investment (ROI) for various improvement projects within the group.
• Support fixed asset management across the US Spring Group.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate and work with all department and management teams.
• Ability to use mathematics and statistics on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Experience with project management.

Things we consider a plus:

• Work Measurement and Time Study certification and/or experience.
• Experience with various types of manufacturing equipment and assembly operations.
• Industrial Engineering Degree or pursuing a degree in a related manufacturing field or certifications in related manufacturing skills
