Satellite Engineer (RF IP NOC, Teleport)

Job Title: Network Engineer II – Satellite / Teleport Operations

Location: Onsite (5x per week)

Experience Level: 3–5 years

Work Schedule: 24x7 rotational shifts, on-call support required

Job Summary

We are seeking a Teleport Engineering and Operations Engineer to support the installation, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of satellite earth station (teleport) infrastructure. This role ensures continuous operation of RF-based satellite communication systems and associated IP network services.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in satellite communications, RF systems, and IP networking , with the ability to troubleshoot and restore services in a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain satellite earth station (teleport) operations and associated communication systems.
• Perform testing and diagnostic procedures on RF, IF, and baseband equipment.
• Troubleshoot and restore satellite and IP network services using standard tools and procedures.
• Monitor network performance, alarms, and service levels to ensure system availability.
• Support installation, configuration, and testing of satellite communication equipment (antennas, modems, routers, switches, multiplexers, and cabling).
• Coordinate service turn-up activities with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
• Perform routine and emergency restoration procedures during outages, including power failures.
• Monitor terrestrial and satellite links for anomalies and initiate escalation procedures when required.
• Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational standards.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and customers to ensure service continuity.
• Provide support for government, international, and enterprise customer circuits.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Networking, or related field OR 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Satellite Network Communications or teleport/earth station operations.
• Strong understanding of RF systems, satellite communication principles, and signal flow (RF, IF, baseband) .
• Experience in IP networking technologies (routing, switching, troubleshooting).
• Ability to work in 24x7 rotational shift environments including weekends and on-call support.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using network and RF test equipment.
• Valid driver’s license (if required for site support activities).

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA or CCNP certification.
• Experience in teleport, earth station, or satellite operations center (SOC/NOC).
• Military or aerospace satellite communications experience.
• Familiarity with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters).
• Experience with vendor coordination and service activation/turn-up processes.
• Strong documentation and incident reporting skills.

Work Environment

• Worksite-based role in a mission-critical satellite operations facility.
• Requires shift flexibility including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• High availability environment with strict SLA requirements.
