Project Manager

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 / year Department: Construction Management Location: New York, NY Description Artheon is seeking a Project Manager for construction management within the transportation infrastructure industry. The role involves overseeing design and construction activities for complex and highly visible projects. Responsibilities Provide administration and coordination of activities for the design and construction of complex and highly visible projects under guidance of senior client Project Officer. Ensure quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants and vendors. Make decisions and take action in a timely manner to expedite completion of the construction process. Correct mistakes and errors in design and construction before they can be extensively incorporated into the project. Engage in coordinative problem solving and managerial functions of these projects. Make decisions on phasing and scheduling of projects. Prepare and ensure preparation of schedules for planning, design and construction; monitor schedules to ensure project is completed on schedule and within cost limits. Provide ongoing interface with contractors, construction managers, local school personnel, and Senior Project Officers on project issues; routinely interact with client senior managers. Participate in development and issuance of project procedures and policies; review and recommend client-wide procedures and policies. Provide guidance and advice to lower-level Project Officers. Resolve issues and problems raised in field reports by architects and construction management staff. Work with architect/engineer of record on change orders, contract documents, shop drawings, and other technical matters to ensure structural soundness, code compliance, and aesthetic facility. Issue field memoranda or directives to contractors to enforce contract compliance. Advise senior management on necessity for assessment of liquidated damages and other contractual enforcement mechanisms. Use independent judgment to make on-site change order decisions and negotiate with contractors; commit client resources on such change orders. Review contractors’ claims or disputed work; advise senior management and compile documentation to adjudicate or deny claims. Visit job sites as required. Perform other related tasks. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible work as a technical specialist in one or more construction and design related fields; two (2) years must involve managing all phases of construction work on a scale and scope similar to the client.
