We are a General Engineering Construction Contractor seeking a Construction Field Engineer / Office & Payroll Administrator who will process weekly payroll and maintain employee time records. The Office Administrator will coordinate office activities and operations while providing clerical and administrative support to management. In addition there are opportunities to advance in other related Construction Field positions (ie. Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager, etc.).
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Enter, maintain, and process information in the payroll system, and other software systems; this may include employee new hire information, pay rates, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
· Review timecards for accuracy, data entry of timecard hours and quantities, verify that hours and quantities match timecards, reconcile with cost report.
· Calculate cost code percentages, track hours and data entry of hours.
· Review and process invoices.
· Maintain records, documentation, and files, particularly more complex or sensitive files such as employee files.
· Drive to jobsites and the main yard to meet new employees to complete new hire paperwork, and/or pick-up and drop-off paperwork or other documents.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Basic understanding of how to operate standard business software programs.
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
· Proficient with payroll systems, QuickBooks, or the ability to quickly learn accounting and/or payroll software.
· Proficient or Experience in reading & understanding Construction Plans & Specifications.
· A clean driving record to be added to the company’s Auto Insurance Policy.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.
· BS and/or Minor in Construction Management/Engineering Field is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 10 pounds at times.
10-30% travel to job sites. Driving 1-2 times per week in the busy season; 2-3 times per month in the offseason. Company fuel card provided for driving to jobsites
