NORTHEAST INDIANA VETERINARY EMERGENCY & SPECIALTY HOSPITAL (NIVES) – EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Emergency Veterinarian Mentee to join our collaborative, team-focused hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a busy 24-hour, multi‑specialty, and emergency referral hospital, we offer an incredible opportunity to thrive in a high‑level setting while making a meaningful impact on patient care. Why NIVES? Support: We have a minimum of 2 Emergency Veterinarians and 8 support staff (2‑3 receptionists, 2‑3 treatment technicians, and 3 dedicated ICU technicians) per shift. Robust Specialty & Emergency Support – Work alongside board‑certified specialists in Surgery, Critical Care, Cardiology, and Internal Medicine, plus 12 experienced doctors dedicated to emergency medicine. Blood Donor Program – Our in‑house blood donor program ensures critical patients receive life‑saving transfusions when they need them most. On‑Site Social Worker – We understand the emotional toll of veterinary medicine. Our social worker is on‑site four days a week to support both our team and clients through difficult cases. Program Overview We are looking for future veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6‑month training and mentorship program. Candidates should be team‑oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable. ER Immerse Training Program The ER Immerse Program prepares veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. It is built around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency clinician, with a focus on clinical knowledge, client and team communication, professional skills, and life/work integration. Program Duration / Commitment 6‑month training program starting June2026. 1‑year commitment as an ER clinician following training. Location Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital – 5818 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN46835. Program Highlights 5‑day work week: 4 clinical days, 1 didactic day, and 2 days off each week. Paired with a specific mentor; the schedule is mirrored for the first3months. After month3, transition to swing shifts as comfort allows, no overnights until approval. Surgical training with board‑certified surgeons. Competency‑based curriculum with asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds.
