This listing is a summary. Open: July 31, 2026 — Closes: August 6, 2026 Summary This position is located in Flagstaff Area National Monuments, in the Division of Resource Stewardship and Science. Major Duties Provides overall professional and technical direction for the cultural resources program, including technical guidance for the pre-contact masonry preservation program on complex preservation issues. Makes recommendations to management regarding cultural resource preservation. Supervises three permanent career seasonal employees and up to six archeological technician seasonal staff, interns, or volunteers; but less than 25% of the time. Creates and implements short-term and long-term cultural resources planning documents and projects. Acquires and administers project funds by preparing project proposals, developing scopes of works, and tracking budgets. Prepares and reviews technical and scientific reports on cultural resource projects and programs. Develops and maintains effective working relations with other NPS staff, partners, agencies, associated tribes, and the public. Area Information: Flagstaff Area National Monuments consists of Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monuments. Wupatki is approximately 35 miles north, Sunset Crater Volcano is 8 miles north, and Walnut Canyon is 8 miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona. Flagstaff has a population of approximately 75,000 and an elevation of 7,000 ft. Summers in Flagstaff are warm with temperatures normally in the 75-85F range and a monsoon/thunderstorm season. Winters are cold, with low temperatures in the teens and snow averaging around 90-100 inches per season. Flagstaff offers complete medical, dental and shopping services, along with excellent educational opportunities at Northern Arizona University and Coconino Community College. Finding affordable housing in Flagstaff can be challenging and may be limited. The surrounding high desert, mountains and lakes, other national park units, and national forest lands provide many varied recreational opportunities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
