Radiologic Technologist

This position works closely with the Director of Imaging and Radiologist to supervise and perform radiographic examinations. The role contributes to the efficient operation of the department and ensures quality and continuity of patient care. The Radiologic Technologist assists the physician in administering opaque media. The position engages in all department functions, both clerical and technical, as needed. Attendance at staff meetings and in-service programs is required. The technologist takes responsibility for ongoing continuing education. Training and instructing ancillary personnel as necessary is a part of the role. The technologist maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by regulatory agencies. Maintenance and troubleshooting of laser printing equipment and PACS are responsibilities of this position. Coordination of patient flow and other imaging procedures is essential. Accurate record-keeping is expected, along with a working knowledge of patient orders and status changes. Quality control for designated areas and participation in hospital-wide quality assurance programs are required. Operating imaging equipment to produce radiographs of designated areas of the body is a primary function. Selecting proper technical factors on an individual basis is required. Producing images under difficult or special conditions is part of the job. The technologist provides safe, age-appropriate care. Participation in on-call assignments and schedule changes may be necessary based on departmental needs. The role involves performing in a multi-modality department with technical competence. Transporting and positioning patients is part of the job duties. Providing radiation protection for oneself and the patient is required. Willingness to perform other assigned duties and innovations is expected. This position performs general diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-rays and fluoroscopy. The role may involve pre-procedure and post-procedure care as required.
