Position: 6th Grade Math Teacher School Year: 2026-2027 Location: Glenwood Springs Middle School Reports to: Glenwood Springs Middle School Principal Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week) Contract Period: 185 working days Salary Range $54,000 to $83,500 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience) The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly. Position Overview Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems. Education and Licensing Guidelines Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution. An active Colorado Teaching License endorsed in Middle School Mathematics (6-8) or Secondary Mathematics (6-12), or the ability to obtain. Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Desired Core Competencies and Qualifications Develops and administers mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction. Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations and geometry, and promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas. Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday existence and problem-solving. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Maintains familiarity with district and Colorado State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records. Physical Requirements May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.
