Job Description : Operations Supervisor

Department : Operations   Job Status: Full-Time  Reports to : Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY   

This position requires effective supervision of drivers, routes, and dispatch employees. The main responsibility is to meet operational and productivity goals to drive customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be process driven and must be able to successfully work in a dynamic environment that focuses on delivering continuous improvement to the customer and will oversee the development of new and current staff. Candidates must possess strong problem solving, team building, and communication skills. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES : 

•    Review staff performance and give appropriate coaching in a constructive manner. 

•    Manage staff scheduling, vacations and payroll. 

•    Coordinate daily tasks and activities. 

•    Manage and retain a designated fleet of drivers.

•    Manage and retain office employees.

•    Apply and reinforce company policies and expectations.

•    Promote a safe and professional atmosphere for staff and drivers. 

•    Build good relationships and promote a team environment. 

•    Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

DESIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

•    Leadership skills that focus on team building and team member development. 

•    Strong problem solving skills to include the ability to identify root causes and implement countermeasures. 

•    Dispatch and/or Customer Service Experience.

•    Transportation dispatch experience preferred.

•    Create a safe and professional atmosphere for staff and drivers. 

•    Proven problem-solving ability.

•    Flexible scheduling when needed to assist in coverage of management vacation/time off/time away from the office. May require occasional Saturday work as required by the customer. 

•    TMW or similar TMS system experience. 

EDUCATION :  

•    High School Diploma or GED. 

•    Bachelor or Associate degree preferred. 

•    Two-Year Commitment   

EXPERIENCE :  

Two years of transportation management, operations, or customer experience preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS :  

Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook email required. Knowledge of TMW and Samsara software is a plus.  Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS :  

Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT :  

This is a full-time position with an on-site requirement.
