Position: PPS Nursing Assignment (LPN or RN) – City Connections West $$ SN$$
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Shift: Days – 35 hours/week (Report Time: 8:45 AM; Building Hours: 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM)
Duration: 37 weeks

Job Duties
• Provide direct nursing care to a 12th-grade student diagnosed with Autism and Epilepsy.
• Monitor the student's health condition and provide ongoing seizure monitoring and support.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to seizure activity according to the student's healthcare and emergency care plans.
• Administer medications as prescribed under RN supervision and district policy.
• Assist with daily health needs, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, as required.
• Perform routine nursing procedures and provide appropriate care for the student's medical needs.
• Support the student during classroom activities, transitions, and school routines.
• Accompany the student on occasional community outings to volunteer sites and provide nursing support during additional scheduled hours.
• Work closely with special education staff and the supervising RN to implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and applicable IEP/504 health supports.
• Maintain accurate health records, treatment logs, medication documentation, and seizure-related records.
• Monitor for changes in the student's condition and promptly communicate concerns to the supervising RN and appropriate school staff.
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment and follow all school safety, confidentiality, and communication protocols.

Requirements

• Active Pennsylvania LPN license; RN license also accepted as specified by the position.
• Demonstrated competency in seizure management, medication administration, emergency response, and other required nursing skills.
• Experience with pediatric, school-aged, medically complex, or developmentally disabled individuals; school-based experience preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with Autism, Epilepsy, and/or complex medical needs preferred.
• Ability to monitor seizure activity and implement appropriate emergency and healthcare plans.
• Ability to implement physician orders, Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), and emergency care plans.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to medical needs in real time.
• BLS certification/verification required.
• First Aid course required.
• CPI or MAB de-escalation training required per facility requirements.
• Ability to accompany the student to approved community volunteer outings when scheduled.
• Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality according to the PPS school calendar and assigned schedule.
• Professional conduct, confidentiality, and effective communication required.
• Ability to follow school-based communication protocols and complete accurate daily documentation.
• Ability to meet required license verification, background checks, medical screenings, and facility-specific compliance requirements.
