Applications Support Engineer 1

JOB SUMMARY

As an Application Support Engineer 1 at Marki Microwave, you own one of the fastest-growing points of contact between Marki and its customers: inbound technical support email. You provide customers with fast, accurate answers on product selection, board-level debug, cross-referencing competitor parts, and custom measurement requests, covering Marki’s entire COTS product line. This role also owns the ongoing accuracy of Marki’s published datasheets, updating them as new data and corrections become available.

This role is based at Marki Microwave’s Morgan Hill headquarters and is a core stop in Marki’s engineering rotation program, giving new engineers rapid, hands-on exposure to the full breadth of Marki’s product line while building the customer-facing technical and communication skills used across engineering, sales, and marketing.

This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• • Serve as a primary point of contact for inbound customer technical support emails covering Marki’s fully released product line.
  • Provide technical guidance on product selection, cross-referencing to competitor parts, and application-specific recommendations.
  • Help customers debug board-level and system-level issues involving Marki components, applying datasheet specifications, application notes, and RF/microwave theory.
  • Submit and track test requests to the Test & Validation team when a customer requires custom or non-standard measurement data, and translate the results into a clear customer-facing response.
  • Meet defined response-time targets by customer tier (e.g., Tier 1 within 24 hours, per support team KPIs).
  • Own the ongoing accuracy of Marki datasheets, updating content as new measurement data, corrections, reliability, or clarifications become available including updates to drawings, s-parameters, measured performance plots, application information, etc
  • Escalate inquiries involving custom, non-standard, or pre-release products to the Technical/Product Marketing teams rather than attempting to resolve them directly and escalate technical questions beyond documented product data to the Test & Validation team in Morgan Hill.
  • Maintain organized records of customer interactions and recurring questions to help identify trends and support process improvements.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive working knowledge of Marki’s full product catalog, including the theory behind every measurement on every Marki datasheet and how it is tested.
  • Promote an ethics-based business culture in the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

• • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in RF/Microwave; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree a plus.
  • 0-2 years of experience working with RF products, or a relevant internship/co-op.
  • Experience in technical customer-facing roles is a strong plus.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• • Strong understanding of RF/Microwave device physics and component theory (Mixers, Passives, Amplifiers, Switches).
  • Working knowledge of RF/Microwave testing theory and standard lab equipment (Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, Power Supplies, Oscilloscope, Multimeter) sufficient to interpret data and speak credibly with customers about measurement methodology, even though this role does not directly operate lab equipment.
  • Ability to understand and explain every measurement reported on a Marki datasheet, including how it is tested.
  • Excellent written communication skills; able to produce clear, technically precise, professional correspondence under time pressure and a high volume of concurrent inquiries.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills; comfortable receiving mentorship and, over time, providing it.
  • Commitment to a fast-paced, high-accountability support environment.
