Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Winston-Salem, NC

Take the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Registered Nurse in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry setting. This contract role places you on a transitional care unit with 20 beds, working with primarily medical patients experiencing conditions such as CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, and post-general surgery recoveries. The environment sees a consistent 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, optimizing both patient care and professional growth.


Schedule:

• Shift: 1830-0700
• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Expectation to work half of holidays during contract
• Approved time off up to seven days

Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• Minimum of two years' recent MedSurg experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with: tracheostomies, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care and wound vacs, drains, central line blood draws, cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Familiarity with non-titrating drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix required; Cardizem and Amiodarone a plus)
• EMR proficiency in EPIC preferred
• Prior travel experience is required

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to a diverse adult population
• Administer and monitor medications, drips, and treatments as per protocol
• Coordinate with providers, CNAs, and interdisciplinary teams
• Perform central line lab draws, wound assessments, and care
• Use bedside monitoring, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing

Workplace Support & Environment:

• 1 CNA per area, 1 charge nurse overseeing both, 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist and resident coverage
• Bedside monitors with a central nurse station monitor
• Royal blue scrubs required; free parking available
