Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Minimum years of experience: 2. Traveler experience not required. Locals accepted with rate difference. Skills include work settings in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath labs. Procedures include cardiac stent placement, diagnostic catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, interventional catheterizations, left heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and right heart catheterization. Medications include antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, reversal agents, and thrombolytics. IV therapy includes blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and starting IVs. Professional knowledge and skills include 12 lead EKG, activated clotting time (ACT), cardioversion, circulate procedures, infection prevention, interpretation/management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, malignant hyperthermia protocols, monitoring procedural sedation, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, sheath removal and monitoring. Certifications include ACLS and BLS.

Preferred skills include work settings in cardiac cath lab procedures such as ASD closures, cardiac implant closure device, impella insertion, rotablader athrectomy, scrub procedures, transcatheter aortic valve implantation/replacement (TAVI/TAVR). Vascular studies/procedures include angioplasty, dialysis graft interventional, upper and lower extremity angiography. IV therapy includes assist with central line insertion/management, implanted ports - care and maintenance, PICC lines - care and maintenance. Professional knowledge and skills include end-tidal CO2 monitoring, external compression devices (C-Clamp, sandbags), hypothermia protocols, laser assisted procedures, pressure ulcer assessment/prevention, radiation and laser safety, topical hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch), vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose), ventilator monitoring.

Shift: 5x8 days (06:45-15:15) Monday-Friday. Occasional late days, typically 4-5 days per month. Call requirement: one day a week and every fifth weekend. Float requirement: will float as needed. Weekend requirement: none. Patients are referred to cath lab with a range of cardiovascular diagnoses or symptoms, often with suspicion or confirmation of heart or vascular disease. Special procedures include percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)-balloon angioplasty and stent placement, PFO/ASD closure, cardiogenic shock, CTO, etc. Special equipment includes Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave, and ACIST. GE Mac Lab system. Unit systems include Pyxis, SBAR, Epic. Unit orientation: 16 hours. Scrubs provided.
