Senior Packaging Engineer Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer for their team in Westborough, MA. The ideal candidate would have 5+ years paper packaging design experience (corrugated, folding, displays, etc). They would also be fluent in ArtiosCAD. Familiarity with ASTM/ISTA package testing and Kongsberg sample making is also required. Additionally, this candidate would be capable of rapid prototyping and working against aggressive design deliverables. They should also be familiar with printing, die cutting, gluing, as well as OEM filling equipment. Someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment is a must! This is an onsite position in Westborough, MA, with domestic travel possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leads complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal supervision.
• Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports.
• Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses.
• Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness
• Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports.
• Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities.
• Partner with purchasing and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging
• Lead internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives.
• Able to identify areas of cost savings or improvements to new and on market products

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering.
• 5-10 years packaging engineering experience.
• Technical depth on a packaging material, format, or process.
• Advanced understanding of the full packaging development and qualification process (or stage gate process).
• Advanced knowledge of resource planning for trials.
• Advanced knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements related to packaging and labeling, ensuring robust package validation and qualification.
• Advanced understanding of project timeline development.
• Demonstrated effective communications (verbally and in writing) across internal and external teams.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time efficiently and effectively across multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.
