San Francisco is a cultural, commercial, and financial center in Northern California. It is the 16th most populous city in the United States, and the fourth most populous in California, with 881,549 residents as of 2019. In World War II, San Francisco was a major port of embarkation for service members shipping out to the Pacific Theater. It then became the birthplace of the United Nations in 1945. After the war, the confluence of returning servicemen, significant immigration, liberalizing attitudes, along with the rise of the "beatnik " and "hippie " countercultures, the Sexual Revolution, the Peace Movement growing from opposition to United States involvement in the Vietnam War, and other factors led to the Summer of Love and the gay rights movement, cementing San Francisco as a center of liberal activism in the United States. A popular tourist destination, San Francisco is known for its cool summers, fog, steep rolling hills, eclectic mix of architecture, and landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, the former Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, Fisherman's Wharf, and its Chinatown district. San Francisco is also the headquarters of companies such as Twitter, Square, Airbnb, Levi Strauss & Co., Gap Inc., Salesforce, Dropbox, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Uber, and Lyft. The city, and the surrounding Bay Area, is a global center of the sciences and arts and is home to a number of educational and cultural institutions, such as the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the University of San Francisco (USF), San Francisco State University (SFSU), the de Young Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the SFJAZZ Center, and the California Academy of Sciences.

They have a long history of conducting cutting-edge research, establishing innovative medical programs, and providing compassionate care to Veterans.

Requirements (duties include, but are not limited to)

• Physical Therapist in the Community Living Center (CLC) will function as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The Physical Therapist independently evaluates patients, plans, executes and, if necessary, modifies a full range of treatment procedures designed to restore optimal function to patients.
• The Physical Therapist will provide physical therapy to CLC residents who often have multiple interacting complex chronic medical and psychosocial problems.
• On occasion the key personnel may be asked to provide coverage in the inpatient acute hospital but will perform physical therapy services primarily in the CLC in accordance with Rehabilitation Service policies and procedures, APTA, Physical Therapy Board of California guidelines and VA regulations governing the practice of physical therapy. Patient populations will include veterans admitted under a variety of treatment specialties including short term rehab and long term care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy
• Current Physical Therapy license to practice
• At least one (1) year of clinical experience with the patient population represented in skilled nursing facility
• Must satisfy state licensure requirement for CEU credit
• Basic Life Support Certified
• Complete VA TMS mandatory training

Shift: M-F, 8:00am - 4:30pm
