Palletizer OperatorThe Palletizer Operator works closely with Supervision and Quality to ensure optimum levels in Quality Inspections, Package Identification, and Final Packaging. This position is scheduled on a rotating 12-hour schedule. Hours for this position are 5pm-5am. Mandatory overtime as required. The starting rate of pay is $21.40 with an additional $2 an hour for shift differential.Duties and Responsibilities:Understand and follow verbal instructions to completion of assigned tasksResponsibility of maintaining the palletizer operation of the food can package process with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, and SpoilageResponsible for the operations of one or more machines or equipment for the production of 2-piece or 3-piece steel cansAbility to safely operate, identify basic mechanical problems, and the maintaining of process equipmentCommunicates all pertinent information between management, co-workers, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems, or any other related informationAssists and trains and/or coaches of all new palletizer operators as needed or requiredApplies skills, methods to improve plant productionResponsible in following SOP's, Plant Rules, 6S Housekeeping, maintaining equipment and modifications of existing production standards to achieve optimal efficienciesEnter information into a computer to generate labels for the palletsAccurate and continuous quality checks and record keeping requiredComplete and/or administer necessary documentation such as monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting, and data process control inputPerforms other job-related duties as required or assignedReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements:Able to work alternate work schedules including overtime, voluntary and mandatory, based on business needsPreferred Requirements:Manufacturing experienceHigh School Education/GEDKnowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of AS4006S TrainingCompetencies:Problem solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approachAbility to work independently or with a teamWith consensus be able to look at new solutions and "think outside the box"Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etcDemonstrated good relations skills and the ability to motivate or team with peopleExcellent time management skills and multi-taskingExcellent oral and written communication skillsComputer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsAbility to stand 8-12 hours per shiftAbility to climb and descend stairsWorking Conditions:Generally works in a packaging/warehouse or plant environmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift trafficProduction noise level is frequently loudBenefits:Crown offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits including free company paid health insurance for employees as well as Company matched 401(k) and active hourly Pension Plan.Join us and become part of a team of professionals who are passionate about sustainable packaging!
