Reports to: Director, Simulation Core Technology Center (SCTC) Location: San Jose, California Eugenus, a global leader in advanced Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology, takes great pride in its people. We are seeking a talented Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our Simulation Core Technology Center (SCTC) in San Jose, California. In this role, you will develop and apply advanced physics-based and multiphysics models to understand and optimize semiconductor process equipment and deposition environments. You will work at the intersection of hardware design, process development, and advanced modeling , helping to drive improvements in process uniformity, chamber performance, gas flow dynamics, thermal behavior, and overall tool architecture. You will collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, process engineering, systems engineering, and product development teams to translate simulation insights into practical improvements in tool performance, scalability, and manufacturability. Impact of the Role As a Modeling and Simulation Engineer in the Simulation Core Technology Center, you will play a critical role in shaping the design and performance of Eugenus’ next-generation deposition systems. Your work will directly influence reactor architecture, gas delivery design, thermal management, and process uniformity for advanced ALD and CVD platforms. By applying advanced multiphysics modeling and simulation, you will help accelerate product development, reduce design iteration cycles, and enable breakthrough improvements in semiconductor manufacturing performance. The insights generated from your models will guide key engineering decisions and contribute to the development of innovative solutions used in leading‑edge semiconductor fabs worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, real‑world engineering challenges at the intersection of physics, hardware design, and semiconductor process technology , while collaborating with a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering team. Key Responsibilities Develop and apply CFD, FEA, and multiphysics models to simulate semiconductor process environments and equipment performance Model and analyze gas flow distribution, thermal profiles, species transport, and reaction behavior in deposition systems Support design optimization of ALD/CVD reactor chambers, gas delivery systems, vacuum components, and wafer thermal control Evaluate and improve process uniformity, particle control, deposition efficiency, and hardware performance using simulation‑driven insights Validate simulation models through correlation with experimental data, wafer results, and hardware test data Work cross‑functionally with mechanical, process, and systems engineering teams to guide design improvements and architecture decisions Present technical results, modeling insights, and engineering recommendations to project teams and leadership Contribute to the development of advanced modeling methodologies and simulation frameworks for semiconductor equipment design Travel up to 10% to support collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, or customers and to participate in technical meetings or testing activities as needed What Makes You Successful in This Role Successful candidates for this role typically demonstrate: A strong ability to translate complex physics and modeling results into practical engineering insights Curiosity and interest in understanding the interaction between equipment hardware, process chemistry, and wafer‑level outcomes Comfort working in a multidisciplinary environment with hardware, process, and systems engineers A balance of deep analytical thinking and pragmatic engineering judgment The ability to clearly communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders A proactive approach to identifying opportunities where simulation can accelerate product development and improve performance Minimum Qualifications Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field Research or industry experience in computational physics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or multiphysics modeling Hands‑on experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, COMSOL Multiphysics , or similar commercial software Strong background in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transport phenomena Experience modeling complex physical systems involving coupled physics Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data interpretation skills Preferred Qualifications Experience modeling semiconductor wafer processing equipment , particularly ALD, CVD, PECVD, or other thin‑film deposition technologies Understanding of semiconductor process environments , including vacuum chambers, gas delivery systems, and wafer thermal management Expertise in gas‑surface reactions, reaction kinetics, plasma physics, or multiphysics coupling Experience simulating reactive flows, species transport, and deposition processes Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using NX, SOLIDWORKS, or ANSYS SpaceClaim Programming or data analysis experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools Experience correlating simulation predictions with experimental or wafer‑level data Experience working in a semiconductor equipment or advanced manufacturing environment Compensation and Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $190,000 , depending on experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for performance bonuses, equity participation, and a comprehensive benefits package .
