We're looking for a Web Press Assistant Operator who is mechanically inclined, dependable and ready to learn a skilled trade in the printing industry. Previous printing experience is not required-if you have mechanical aptitude, enjoy working with equipment and are willing to learn, we'll provide hands-on training to help you develop your skills.

This is a developmental position with a path toward becoming a Web Press Operator. You'll work alongside experienced Press Operators and Leads, learning everything from press set-up and material preparation to print quality, troubleshooting, changeovers, maintenance and process controls.

What You'll Do

As a Web Press Assistant Operator, you'll be directly involved in the printing process while receiving continuous hands-on training. As your knowledge and proficiency grow, you'll take on additional responsibilities and develop the technical skills needed to advance within Press operations.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Work alongside Web Press Operators and Leads to learn all phases of press production, including setup, startup, operation, monitoring, changeovers and shutdown.
• Prepare the press and materials for scheduled production runs by staging and loading paper rolls, preparing the roll splicer, maintaining ink levels and ensuring necessary supplies are ready.
• Assist with press make-ready and job changeovers, including color setup and adjustments, wash-ups, form changes, skid changes and belt changes.
• Read and follow job tickets, production specifications and schedules to verify materials and job requirements before and during production.
• Monitor printed products for color, registration and overall print quality, identifying and communicating potential problems.
• Learn to troubleshoot printing, material and equipment issues and make appropriate adjustments as your skills develop.
• Help maintain efficient production flow by reducing downtime, minimizing material waste and supporting established productivity and quality standards.
• Perform required cleaning, inspections and routine press maintenance to keep equipment and work areas production ready.
• Accurately complete production, material, work center and timekeeping documentation.
• Participate in ongoing technical training covering web press operation, process controls, troubleshooting, prepress functions and Belt Technician responsibilities.
• Follow established safety procedures, equipment requirements and PPE standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Other duties as required.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, eager to learn and interested in developing the technical skills needed to grow within Press operations.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous manufacturing, printing, machine operation or mechanically oriented experience is preferred, but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how complex production equipment operates.
• Willingness to participate in continuous hands-on training and develop technical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and follow job tickets, production specifications, written instructions and operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize equipment, production and quality concerns.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills and willingness to learn press-related software and production systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn from experienced operators.
• Ability to stay organized and productive while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Dependable attendance and commitment to developing the skills required for advancement.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to take direction and increasingly work independently as proficiency develops.
• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the shift.
• Ability to work well in a diverse environment.
