Software Engineer Manager, Alloy DB

Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and innovation.Define and execute the long-term technical goal for the Platform for the Agentic era.Oversee the end-to-end design, implementation, and operational reliability of major components across the AlloyDB platform stack to support production-grade Agentic workloads.Collaborate closely with Product Managers and UX to define product roadmaps and translate customer requirements into scalable engineering solutions.Drive technical alignment and successful integrations by collaborating with various engineering teams across the broader Google Cloud organization.Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.8 years of experience in software development.3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.Experience in designing, developing, and architecting large-scale distributed systems, managed cloud services, or relational databases.Preferred qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.Experience working with or building backend infrastructure to support AI applications and complex production Agentic workloads.Deep experience in designing, implementing, or operating enterprise-grade database management systems (DBMS), particularly PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.Demonstrated experience architecting highly available, secure, and resilient systems, including advanced disaster recovery (DR), cross-region replication, or serverless platforms.Our managed PostgreSQL-compatible offering stands as a cornerstone of the managed data ecosystem—an enterprise-grade transactional engine designed for the most demanding throughput requirements.
