Intellectual Property Attorney – Tech‑Driven Practice Salary: $170,000 – $185,000 per year Location: Chicago, IL Job Overview We are a business‑focused law firm looking to add a mid‑to‑senior IP/Technology attorney. The successful candidate will work directly with companies ranging from early‑stage technology startups to established operators to protect, monetize, and leverage intellectual property in practical business contexts. The role is cross‑functional, collaborating with corporate, litigation, and regulatory teams to deliver forward‑thinking solutions. Responsibilities Advise clients on IP strategy, protection, and commercialization Handle patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters Draft and negotiate IP licensing and technology agreements Support IP‑related transactions (M&A, financing, due diligence) Manage or assist with IP disputes and enforcement strategy Counsel on digital, data, and emerging technology issues, including e‑commerce and regulatory considerations Qualifications 5+ years of experience in intellectual property and/or technology law Active Illinois bar license Experience with IP counseling, transactions, or litigation support Strong understanding of how IP ties into business strategy and growth Ability to operate in a client‑facing, advisory‑heavy environment Bonus: Technical background (CS, EE, life sciences, etc.) or experience with complex technologies Benefits Competitive compensation package, complete benefits package, flexible work schedules, accelerated career growth, fun company activities, and many more benefits.
