Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of the physician and supervision of the lead nurse in an ambulatory care setting. Responsibilities include supporting quality initiatives, effective communication with patients and family members, collaboration with administrative and operations staff, gathering patient data, assisting with examinations and procedures, providing routine treatments, documenting patient data, processing calls, and adhering to compliance with Orlando Health policies. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-specific needs of patients, practice efficient use of supplies, and assist the business office as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting, current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification, and current certification by one of the following agencies: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
