Plumbers Helper, Civil & Marine division - Kotzebue, AK

Job Description We are seeking a dependable, safety focused labor to support mechanical and civil construction projects in remote Alaska. This is a hands on, field based role will include working along side journeyman plumbers installing residential and commercial plumbing systems, residential and commercial heating systems, installing potable water distribution systems, and waste water collection systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working long hours in challenging weather conditions, follows strict safety protocols, and is willing to live and work in remote camp environments. Responsibilities Assist plumber installing potable water systems, waste water collection systems and heating systems. Assist underground utilities crew installing potable water distribution systems and sanitary sewer collection systems Load, unload, and secure materials safely and properly. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance. Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, and required documentation. Perform daily equipment inspections. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, DOT regulations, MSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements. Work safely in extreme weather and uneven terrain. Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Complete trade school program in Plumbing and Heating Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy. Strong understanding of jobsite safety and hazardous materials handling. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work. Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and rotational schedules. Ability to live and work in remote Alaska locations for extended periods. Preferred Experience working in remote or camp-based projects Arctic or cold-weather construction experience Experience installing water and sewer lines preferred Working Conditions and Physical Requirements The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
