Job Description

• Assists with preparing patients for exams, administering medications within the medical assistant scope of practice, assisting with procedures, and facilitating general communication with patients.
• Accurately takes vital signs and gives injections as directed.
• Performs all in‑office testing as requested by provider.
• Assists with minor surgical procedures/wound care and dressing, and sterilization of instruments.
• Handles pharmacy‑related requests/issues.
• Collects and inputs patient information into the EMR using correct medical terminology.
• Completes referrals, pre‑certifications, and prior‑authorizations.
• Monitors and orders supplies and medications.
• Maintains patient files.
• Responsible for the financial cost related to obtaining certification and renewing certification.
• Responsible for obtaining and maintaining certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. STNA preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Current AAMA certification or current AAMA exam eligibility.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.

Physical Demands: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
