Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Hampton School District (SAU 90) has an opening for a Registered Behavior Technician at Hampton Academy, grades 6-8, for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direct supervision of the BCBA and in coordination with the Director of Student Services, The RBT provides high-quality behavioral therapy to individuals identified as requiring the services for an RBT. To be successful, one must possess both written and verbal communication skills, strong collaboration skills, and interpersonal interaction skills. The RBT must implement care plans for children as identified. The RBT must assist with the delivery of behavior analysis services and practices under the guidance and supervision of the BCBA. The RBT will care for and work with children with various behavioral challenges and collaborate with the care team. He/She will assist in implementing care plans and work with RBT techniques taught by the BCBA to make improvements with/for the student. The RBT will collect data on programs, assist with staff training, and assist with assessments as needed. The RBT will facilitate behavior change by modifying maladaptive behaviors and replacing them with appropriate behaviors.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Undergo a background check within 180 days of completing the RBT certification application
• Complete and pass the RBT Competency Assessment which involves an assessor watching and rating an applicant's performance on RBT exercises
• Pass the RBT exam, which consists of 75 multiple-choice questions that measure an applicant's understanding of the RBT Task List
• Follow RBT Ethics Code

Responsibilities

• The RBT is in charge of carrying out behavioral health plans on a daily basis, which includes interviewing students, performing follow-ups, and collecting data. The RBT also communicates directly with the BCBA, students, and engages with the family members when deemed appropriate/necessary.
• Follow behavioral health plans developed by the BCBA/team members to provide beneficial and effective care to patients
• Assist children with day-to-day tasks
• Observe children's behaviors to collect data
• Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction
• Nurture a child's social abilities
• Inform parents and other caregivers about behavioral intervention findings, when deemed appropriate
• Provide direct student instruction and assist staff with implementation in one-on-one and group settings using a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment teaching arrangements
• Collect records and summarize observable student behavior. Assist with skill acquisition and behavioral assessments. Collect data on all programming
• Document interventions, progress data, sessions notes
• Immediately report to BCBA any student incidents/variances or complaints
• Attend yearly refresher training
• Becomes familiar with the teaching procedures used by the teacher, the teacher schedule activities, the continuity of academic progression and the materials and Equipment available
• Assist the teacher and strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interest, and abilities
• Provides escort at assistance to students as necessary throughout a variety of school and community settings
• Assist with the supervision of students during regular play/leisure periods. Assist with self-care tasks such as lunch, snack, clean up, and wash up

Performs all other duties as assigned

Evaluation

Job performance will be evaluated by the BCBA under supervision from the Director of Student Services in accordance with The Hampton School District policy
