Senior Software Quality Engineer

Senior Software Quality EngineerAs a Senior Software Quality Engineer at vCluster Labs, you aren't just writing test cases; you are the architect of how we know our product works. You'll own test strategy end-to-end across a fast-moving codebase, build the automation frameworks that give engineering the confidence to ship daily, and be the voice for testability and reliability in every design conversation you're part of.As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, your role will include:Test framework ownership: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks spanning backend services and UI, built to scale with a fast-growing product.Test strategy: Own and drive test strategy across services and features, ensuring coverage is thorough and tied directly to product goals, not just ticket checkboxes.Cross-functional influence: Work closely with engineering and product to shape features early, advocate for testability, and align the team on what "quality" means for this product.Architectural input: Sit in on architecture and design discussions, bringing a testability and reliability lens before code gets written, not after.CI/CD integration: Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) so engineers get fast, high-confidence feedback on every change.Exploratory testing: Run exploratory testing to catch usability issues, edge cases, and regressions that automation won't find on its own.Parallel execution: Move across multiple projects at once in a startup environment where priorities shift, without losing rigor. This role could be a fit for you if you bring:Experience depth: 7+ years in QA or software testing, including 2+ years operating at a senior or staff level.Programming ability: Strong hands-on skills in at least one of Go, Python, or JavaScript, used for building automation and tooling, not just scripting one-off checks.AI-assisted QA workflow: Daily use of AI tools for reviewing PRs and design docs, writing test plans, and automating test cases, paired with the judgment to know when to trust the output and when to verify it yourself.Ownership mindset: You spot what needs to happen and drive it forward without waiting to be told.Startup fluency: Proven ability to stay calm under ambiguity and juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to advocate for quality across engineering and product.CI/CD depth: Deep understanding of CI/CD systems and hands-on experience integrating automated test suites into pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).Kubernetes fluency: Working knowledge of Kubernetes environments and distributed systems, or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn quickly.Debugging skill: Excellent analytical and debugging ability, particularly for backend and infrastructure-related issues.Bonus points for:Experience testing in tenant cluster or Tenant Isolation environments.Prior experience owning QA at a startup through a period of rapid product growth.About vCluster LabsWe are a venture-backed tech startup and the company pioneering Kubernetes virtualization for the AI era. We raised +$30M from top-tier VCs such as Khosla Ventures (first investor in OpenAI, GitLab, Stripe, Doordash) and are in a hyper-growth phase looking for motivated people to complement our team. Our headquarters are in San Francisco (Salesforce Tower), but our team is distributed around the globe and we have a remote-first work culture. We are the leading platform for operating GPU infrastructure, enabling AI Cloud providers to deliver a hyperscaler-like experience to their customers and AI factories that need to build that same experience for their internal teams. Our platform delivers the full operational stack operators need to run their GPU data centers — managed Kubernetes, fast isolated tenant provisioning, and automated node provisioning and lifecycle management — enabling them to accelerate time to value, reduce operational burden, and maximize the ROI of every GPU.We're the company behind vCluster, an open-source technology for virtualizing Kubernetes (10k+ GitHub stars, 40M+ virtual clusters created since 2021). Open source is part of our DNA. At KubeCon North America 2025, we launched our Infrastructure Tenancy Platform for AI — a Kubernetes-native framework purpose-built for running AI, ML, and GPU-intensive workloads anywhere, with an NVIDIA-validated reference architecture for DGX systems.Culture & ValuesAt vCluster Labs, we value and stand for:Make it Happen: We have a relentless bias for action and the grit to push through obstacles. We do whatever it takes to figure it out, put in the work, and ruthlessly prioritize the actions that drive measurable impact for the business.Own the Outcome: We understand that our responsibility doesn't end when a task is checked off; it ends when the value is delivered. We connect our daily individual actions to the broader success of the company and our customers.Create Wow: We measure success by the experience we generate, both inside and outside the company. For our customers, this means impressive speed and intuitive experiences. For our team, this means going the extra mile to support one another and to continuously drive each other to new heights.Open Source, Open Mind: We are actively contributing to and maintaining open-source projects. Internally, we foster meritocracy — the strongest ideas win, no matter who or where they come from.Build Tomorrow's Standards, Intentionally: We don't just ship software; we define the state-of-the-art of tomorrow. We are fearless in tearing down old approaches to build something better, but we are disciplined in how we do it because we know our users rely on our technology to run mission-critical infrastructure platforms. vCluster
