Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in nuclear medicine

Must-Have:

• Strong understanding of nuclear medicine principles, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging techniques
• Proficiency in operating gamma cameras and other nuclear medicine equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and record-keeping
• Commitment to radiation safety practices and compliance with regulatory standards
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team

Description:

Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients. Operate sophisticated imaging equipment such as gamma cameras. Analyze the resulting images to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses.

Patient Care:

• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
• Provide compassionate care and support to patients throughout the nuclear medicine procedures.
• Address any patient concerns or discomforts and ensure their safety and well-being during the imaging process.

Radiopharmaceutical Administration, Imaging Procedures, and Image Analysis:

• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols and guidelines.
• Ensure proper dosage and injection technique to optimize imaging results.
• Operate gamma cameras and other specialized imaging equipment to capture images of radioactive tracers within the patient's body.
• Follow established protocols for image acquisition and processing.
• Analyze nuclear medicine images to identify abnormalities or areas of interest.
• Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.

Clienttion Safety:

• Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
• Maintain accurate records of radiation doses administered and monitor radiation levels in work areas.

Quality Control and Documentation/Reporting:

• Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
• Troubleshoot technical issues as needed and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information, radiopharmaceutical doses administered, imaging parameters, and image interpretations.
• Generate accurate reports for inclusion in patient medical records.

Education:

• Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, procedures, and safety regulations through ongoing education and professional development activities.
• Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Participate in the orientation of staff.
