About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Active compact license required Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Locals at the same rate. Perm candidates from any other facility are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least three months. Two years of experience required. First-time travelers not accepted. Patient diagnoses include labor and preterm labor. There are eight labor rooms and four triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrubbing, and low-risk antepartum care. Special procedures involve blood and blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. Involvement in wound vac, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate administration. Responsible for attending all deliveries and high-risk deliveries. GYN surgeries and couplet care also fall under responsibilities. Unit also provides low-risk antepartum and transition nursery care. Staffing ratio is 1:1-3. Floating to post-partum and NICU based on skill set may be required. References required covering one year of experience within the last three years during the compliance process. Experience with patient ratios and charting system required. Skills include administration of blood and blood products, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, assisting with high-risk delivery, circulating for C-sections, and pain assessment and management. Additionally, must understand isolation precautions and the use of intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC) and PCA (IV). Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred.
