Field Service TechnicianAs a Field Service Technician specializing in industrial automation, you will support the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of custom industrial automation equipment at customer facilities across North America. This role is perfect for individuals with a strong background in maintenance, millwright work, or industrial automation who thrive in hands-on environments and enjoy travel and problem-solving.Travel 50-60%Primarily U.S. travel - 1 internationally trip/yearTypical trips are Mon. - Fri. with weekends at homeCompany CC for all travel expenses: hotel, flights, cars, gas, meals$130/day travel premiumResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automation equipmentMechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting and repairPerform preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and service callsSupport equipment startups, testing, and commissioning activitiesRead and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentationTrain customers on equipment operation and maintenanceComplete detailed service reports and communicate findings with customers and internal teamsEssential Skills8+ years of field service or technician experience with industrial automation equipmentStrong mechanical aptitudeExperience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systemsBackground in industrial maintenance, millwright work, field service, machine building, or similar hands-on environments.Strong communication and customer-facing skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience troubleshooting and modifying PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley preferred).Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in the field.Familiarity with HMI systems and industrial controls.Exposure to commissioning and startup activities.Background in supervising installations.Work EnvironmentYou will be part of a growing team of service technicians, expanding from three to five members.The position requires 40-hour workweeks when local and 60-70 hours while traveling, with additional overtime opportunities available.Limited international travel is required, with occasional trips to Canada, Mexico, and overseas destinations such as Japan or Australia.All travel expenses are covered, and employees keep all airline, hotel, and travel reward points earned.The work environment is dynamic and provides opportunities for hands-on experience with cutting-edge industrial automation technology.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belding, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
