Job Description

This role involves working on an assembly line in a temperature-controlled facility to build and package bus seats. You will rotate through several positions during your shift, focusing on precision, consistency, and safe material handling while contributing to a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble seat cushions by securely placing cushions onto bus seat bases according to specifications.

• Assemble back cushions by attaching cushions to the backrest portion of bus seats with consistent quality.

• Install vinyl coverings over seat and backrest cushions, ensuring a smooth, tight, and wrinkle-free finish.

• Use hand tools to attach the backs of the seats to the bases, following established assembly procedures and guidelines.

• Perform boxing and packing duties, including team lifting bus seats into boxes for shipment to customers.

• Rotate between seat cushion assembly, back cushion assembly, vinyl installation, assembly, and boxing throughout the shift to maintain productivity and reduce fatigue.

• Follow production instructions, blueprints, or work guidelines to complete tasks accurately and on time.

• Maintain a steady work pace in a fast-paced environment while keeping a high level of attention to detail.

• Handle general labor and packaging tasks, including loading and preparing finished products for shipping.

• Use mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor issues with parts or assembly steps and communicate concerns as needed.

• Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques when handling up to 40 lbs and participating in team lifts.

• Keep the work area clean and organized to support efficient and safe production operations.

Essential Skills

• Proven reliability with attendance and the ability to maintain consistent work habits.

• Ability to stand on your feet for the duration of the shift.

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift, including team lifting for heavier items.

• High attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and packaging of products.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment.

• Mechanical aptitude to work with basic assembly processes and components.

• Ability to perform general labor, production, assembly, and packaging tasks.

• Capability to use hand tools safely and effectively for assembly work.

• Willingness to follow instructions, production guidelines, and safety procedures.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team on an assembly line.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with hand tools in a production or assembly setting.

• Experience in automotive assembly or the automotive industry.

• Familiarity with reading and following blueprints or assembly diagrams.

• Previous experience in light industrial, general labor, or manufacturing environments.

• Comfort with loading, packing, and shipping processes.

Work Environment

You will work in a temperature-controlled facility on an assembly line, rotating through different stations to reduce physical strain and keep tasks varied. The role requires standing for the entire shift and handling materials up to 40 lbs, often using team lifts for heavier items. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, involving the use of hand tools, basic mechanical processes, and packaging equipment. Work is organized in two primary shifts: a first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and a second shift from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The facility includes three breakrooms for rest periods, an on-site gym, and an on-site health clinic. Dress expectations align with a light industrial setting, requiring safe and practical attire suitable for standing, lifting, and using hand tools.

This is a Contract position based out of Westfield, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.40 - $16.40/hr.
