The Barista-Cashier is an entry-level position responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service while supporting daily restaurant and café operations. This role involves taking customer orders, processing payments, preparing and serving beverages and other menu items, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and assisting the team with general restaurant duties.

This position is located at the Indianapolis International Airport and operates:

• Monday through Sunday
• Nights and weekends required
• 5:00 AM – 11:00 PM (shifts vary)

Target Start Date

The anticipated start date for this position can range from late September through December, depending on hiring and onboarding timelines.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service.

• Accurately take customer orders and communicate order details to the appropriate team members.

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately process cash, credit/debit cards, and other approved forms of payment.

• Prepare coffee, beverages, food, and other menu items according to established recipes and café standards.

• Follow portion-control, presentation, and product-quality standards when preparing and serving items.

• Follow established procedures for customer orders involving food allergies or dietary restrictions.

• Set up and organize the assigned station before and during the shift.

• Monitor inventory at the assigned station and restock food, beverages, supplies, and other items as needed.

• Properly operate, clean, and maintain equipment and tools used at the assigned station.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned station, service areas, equipment, floors, and other designated areas.

• Properly handle, cover, label, store, and dispose of food and materials in accordance with food safety procedures.

• Assist with opening, closing, and other daily restaurant operations as assigned.

• Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members.

• Support other work areas and assist with additional duties as needed to maintain smooth restaurant operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Arrives in proper uniform and follows all company grooming and appearance standards.

• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, portion requirements, and food presentation standards.

• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, proper food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.

• Ability to learn and properly use restaurant equipment and tools after training.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.

• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work cooperatively with customers and team members in a diverse work environment.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when appropriate.

• Dependable, flexible, and willing to assist with other tasks when needed.

• Prior experience in a café, restaurant, kitchen, or other food-service environment is preferred but not required.
