Every Day.Together we are:Growing our teams of effective and committed educatorsCreating a culture of high expectationsRespecting our diversityInspiring community trust and supportBuilding pathways to successful futureREPORTS TO: Executive Director, Human ResourcesCandidate ProfileEducation and Certification: - HS Diploma or equivalent Two years of course work in one or more of the following fields of study: Education, Business Administration, Management, Transportation or related field Valid Colorado Driver's license Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with Class B and P2S endorsement CPR and First Aid certifications required within 60 days after hire Successful completion of District's School Bus Driver Training program required for hire Must be at least 21 years of age Must pass annual written test and annual driving performance test Must pass DOT physical Record of safe driving per motor vehicle record check Pass drug/alcohol screen Pass background checkExperience and Skills: - 3-5 years' experience in transportation related field, including 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent Effective interpersonal, human relations and communication skillsCulture and Fit: - Commitment to the mission and values of Montezuma Cortez Re-1 Desire to work as a member of a dynamic team Openness to feedback and willingness to share ideas Maintains and models high standards of personal and professional integrity and confidentialityPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Recruit, screen and recommend for hire all employees in the transportation and department.Train and supervise all transportation personnel, and make recommendations for their continued employment.Coordinate and authorize transportation schedules and services with building administrators for safe, efficient and economical transportation services.Maintain transportation services departmental compliance with all local, district, state, federal and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventative safetyAct as a liaison with superintendent, local and state transportation entities on road hazards for decision on school closing during inclement weather.Develop and administer a transportation program to meet all the requirements of daily instructional programs, school trips and extracurricular activitiesPrepare and administer the transportation budgets. Develop recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on future enrollment projections including vehicle replacement needs. Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and district rulesApprove and forward transportation service invoices to the business officeApprove and submit timesheets to the payroll office on a monthly basisTake an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses.Act as liaison with parents for complaints and special requests.Follow district policies and procedures and all other duties as assigned.TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEKnowledge of DOT regulations, commercial driver's license rules and regulations, Colorado Motor Vehicle codes, CDE operational rules and FCC regulationsKnowledge of school transportation equipment and the operation of school transportation vehiclesFamiliarity with vehicle maintenanceKnowledge of transportation routing software preferredAbility to lead and supervise othersEffective communication and interpersonal skillsOperating knowledge of school buses and pool vehiclesOperating knowledge of emergency equipment including radio, tire chains, flare etc.CDL preferred.ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:Noise, dirt and dust, odors and fumes, some hazardous situations, temperature extremes. All buildings/grounds in District Re-1 are tobacco free.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Occasional lifting 10 to 50 poundsConstant sittingFrequent reachingOccasional bending, stooping, kneeling
