Senior Software Engineer - Backend
Virtual Vocations Inc
Providing hands-on technical leadership, the full-time Senior Software Engineer - Backend will design, develop, and implement AWS-based cloud services and backend systems for an IoT consumer application while working remotely. Key responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of backend and cloud services, including AWS Lambda microservices and REST APIs Provide technical mentorship and guidance to backend engineers and cross-functional teams through design and code reviews Ensure production readiness of backend systems through monitoring, testing, and incident response practices Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience Minimum six years of professional software engineering experience, with four years focused on backend/cloud systems Advanced proficiency in Python and experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and IoT Core Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform for cloud infrastructure management Strong understanding of database design across SQL and NoSQL systems, including performance optimization
