Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Mansfield, Ohio. The role offers weekly pay and excellent benefits. Compensation & Bonuses Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour Certification Bonus up to $700 for new ASE certifications Quarterly Bonus up to $500 Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days Schedule & Hours Monday to Friday, weekends off Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (First Shift) Benefits Medical, dental, vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans get an extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or Technical Certification Post‑Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free workplace.
