We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time Behavioral Health Program Medical Director to join the team in Rancho Mirage, CA! Position: Behavioral Health Program Medical Director

Location: Rancho Mirage, CA

Schedule: M-F, day shifts (Full time - W2)

Department: Behavioral Health Services

Reports To: Chief Medical Officer / Executive Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Key Responsibilities

• Meet regularly with operations, administrative staff, and leadership to address program issues and share clinical perspectives.
• Partner with the clinic manager to set meeting agendas, lead provider meetings, and oversee clinic operations.
• Hold regular one-on-one meetings with physicians and APPs to review data, set goals, and provide feedback.
• Manage provider schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
• Oversee clinic quality, productivity, teamwork, and adherence to service excellence standards.
• Lead or support quality improvement projects and ensure timely submission of data.
• Contribute to program budgeting, strategic planning, and business growth initiatives.
• Collaborate with billing on compliance, coding, and provider education.
• Support physician evaluations, professional development, and, when needed, disciplinary actions.
• Foster positive morale, a learning environment, and high-quality patient care.
• Review patient service records for quality assurance.
• Attend compliance training annually.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified in Psychiatry.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of [State].
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health, with at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role.
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, program development, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
