Safety Engineer

Basic Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer 3 to lead complex systems engineering efforts with a strong emphasis on personal and environmental safety. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, safety engineering knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, safety-compliant solutions in support of mission-critical defense programs.Key ResponsibilitiesLead systems engineering activities with a focus on safety requirements, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation across the full system lifecycleDevelop and maintain Safety Management Plans, hazard analyses, and environmental impact assessmentsEnsure compliance with DoD safety standards and regulationsIntegrate personal and environmental safety requirements into system architectures and designsConduct and support Safety Reviews, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)Collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) teams to ensure regulatory complianceMentor junior engineers on safety engineering best practicesSupport proposals, design reviews, and customer interactions related to safety requirementsQualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fieldExperience: 2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience, with demonstrated focus on safety engineeringClearance: Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferredCandidate must be local to the area and able to work onsite in the Pittsfield, MA office.
