Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Description Summary The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Responsibilities include patient assessment, education pre‑ and post‑procedure, safe care and monitoring during the procedure, safe administration of radiation, contrast dosing, and image processing. The role involves maintaining and operating specialized vascular C‑arm equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images, applying up‑to‑date knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices, maintaining regulatory required documentation during/after the procedure, and assisting with patient preparation and positioning. Work Schedule Monday–Thursday 7:00 am–5:30 pm Minimum Training and Education Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and have a minimum of 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred, or graduate of an advanced IR program. Must be able to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team‑oriented environment. Must be familiar with age‑specific criteria. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent. Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and Point‑of‑Care (POC) training. Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, squatting, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, reaching in all directions, using both hands/arms and legs; lift and carry 15 lb unassisted; maintain 20/40 vision; maintain hearing and tactile/olfactory functions as required; use a respirator as qualified. Additional Job Description Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Experience: Zero to two years of modality‑specific work experience. Registration/Certification: Must be registered with ARRT within six months of hire. Licensure: South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association licensed. Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider accepted. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
