Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Cancer Center Day Shift

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician provides clinical services to our patient population, maintains knowledge of safe laboratory practices endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and OSHA, and delivers superior patient care with strong communication skills. Duties Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analyses in the Department of Laboratories. Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting according to established protocols. Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures. Proficient in computer protocols as assigned. Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols. Perform high‑complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using manual and automated methods. Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique. Assist in implementing and validating new procedures. Engage in continuing education, including conference and off‑site training attendance. Interact professionally with nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Work every other weekend; pass days and holidays as assigned. Qualifications Required: SL‑1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, with 0–2 years of relevant experience. SL‑2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, with 3–5 years of relevant experience. SL‑3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, with a minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Preferred: Generalist background in Hematology and Chemistry. ASCP Certification. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biological or Life Sciences. Master’s Degree. Work Schedule Full‑time, Day Shift (Monday‑Friday 0700‑1530). Pass days and holidays as assigned; may work every other weekend. Compensation Salary range: $89,142 – $113,055 per year, with potential supplemental pay (e.g., location, shift differential).
