The Controller is experienced in all aspects of financial management, including partnership and corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong management skill and a strong desire to be part of a growing legal practice that takes pride in making the legal system uncomplicated, approachable, and accessible to everyone. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P. Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Assist with developing the financial well-being of the firm by providing financial reports and projections and accounting services, preparing growth plans and directing staff. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Coordinate and assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting including annual and periodic program review audits. Improve the firm's prospects by studying and analyzing economic trends and revenue opportunities. Research technical accounting issues for compliance and CFO as needed. Support month-end and year-end close process. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (required) 7+ years of related work experience Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process. Experience in preparing and review of partnership, corporate, payroll and tax filings. Experience with various accounting software administration *Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MBA preferred but not required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License preferred. Xero/QuickBooks experience will be helpful Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Experience with working with large amounts of data. Strong analytical and presentational skills. Strong team management? negotiation and problem-solving skills. Confidentiality and responsibility and ability to handle high volume workload in a fast-paced environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Duties will be performed in a standard office environment. Employees must have the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Gravis policy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work weekends, holidays, be on call, and some employees could be required to travel overnight on occasion.
