HVAC Truck Based Mechanic Apprentice (union)

Responsibilities Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service. Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites. Apprentices will participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skill sets for recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues and customer needs. Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed. Meet attendance requirements for required Union training in the first year. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Equip apprentices with tools and vehicle to perform the job at the highest standard. Qualifications Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO. 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non-critical, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site. Self-start with ability to eventually work independently. Prioritize safety in all forms. Valid driver’s license required. Preferred: 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis. Pay & Benefits This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $20-$35 hourly, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through the local labor union aligned with the collective bargaining agreement.
