Referral Specialist

Referral Specialist
The Referral Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of the patient referral process including coordinating and completing referrals ordered by providers; acquiring and verifying third party information for referrals; obtaining referral appointments; and tracking referrals.

Minimum Education
Basic College Courses
Minimum Work Experience
6 months Scheduling Rep experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to scheduling referrals and testing
- Knowledge of manual/computerized scheduling systems
- Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
- Knowledge of insurance and ability to obtain prior authorization
- Skill in communicating effectively with physicians/clinicians about referrals/radiology
- Ability to multitask effectively; dealing with phone calls; in-office patients; staff and others pleasantly with calm and clear communication in all circumstances
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demand and plan; organize and prioritize accordingly
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
