Overview Employment Status: Full time. Shift: Day/Evening/Night. Location: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke. Requisition Number: R152594. Position: RN - Medical Cardiology PCU. Responsibilities Consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter. Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilize delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes. Complete age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documented and used to develop a plan of care. Collaborate with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care; revise plan according to changes in patient status. Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Identify patient/family educational needs, integrate into plan of care, implement and document appropriately. Contribute to performance improvement activities. Advocate for patient rights and provide psychological/social/cultural support. Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Perform within clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence‑based, quality care and performance improvement. Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve outcomes. Act as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians. Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs. Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and guidelines. Use problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution to patient and personnel situations. Take an active role in the orientation of new employees and provide feedback to staff appropriately. Participate in unit, hospital, and system activities to facilitate staff input in decision making. Assist in providing education activities for unit/department. Qualifications Graduate of a school of professional nursing of an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Required life‑support certifications: AHA BLS‑HCP; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
