Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Louisville, Kentucky. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 12 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Louisville, Kentucky. This position involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care across a mixed-acuity environment in a surgical trauma unit. The RN will be responsible for managing a variety of complex conditions, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Job Details: Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. The shift begins at 7:00 PM and ends at 7:30 AM; arrival time can be as early as 6:53 PM. Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, and current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse. A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a similar setting is required; 3 years preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with blood administration, skeletal traction, drains, JP drains, CT scans, wound dressings, wound vac management, and wound care. Skills in Heparin infusions, high-flow oxygen therapy, and stable bipap management. Additional Information: The unit supports a diverse team including charge nurses, receptionists, phlebotomy staff, vascular access teams, sepsis teams, rapid response teams, hospitalists, specialists, intensivists, and remote telemetry monitoring. Orientation includes 24 hours of facility and unit-specific training, conducted over two 12-hour shifts at the end of week one and the start of week two. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and delivering exceptional outcomes. Scrub color is Galaxy Blue, with free onsite parking available via badge access. Float to mixed acuity units may be required.
