Government Affairs Specialist

GreenMet

GreenMet is seeking a Government Affairs Specialist to support our growing portfolio of critical minerals, advanced materials, energy, and national security projects. This role sits at the intersection of public policy, government engagement, and strategic business development, helping GreenMet and its clients navigate the federal policy environment and identify opportunities to advance U.S. industrial and national security priorities. The ideal candidate is highly interested in federal policy and government affairs, an excellent researcher and communicator, and comfortable engaging with policymakers, congressional offices, federal agencies, and other key stakeholders. The role is well suited for someone who is eager to build experience in government affairs and take on increasing responsibility in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze federal legislation, regulations, executive actions, agency policies, appropriations, and other developments relevant to critical minerals, energy, manufacturing, trade, defense, and national security. Track congressional activity, committee proceedings, hearings, legislation, amendments, and other policy developments and provide timely updates to the GreenMet team. Support GreenMet’s engagement with congressional offices, federal agencies, and other government stakeholders on behalf of the firm and its clients. Provide full administrative and logistical support to senior GreenMet leadership, including scheduling, meeting coordination, travel logistics, and follow-up on key priorities. Required to register as a federal lobbyist. Build and maintain professional relationships with policymakers, congressional staff, agency officials, and relevant industry stakeholders. Prepare policy briefs, talking points, meeting materials, background memos, correspondence, and other government affairs materials. Identify policy developments, federal programs, funding opportunities, and government initiatives that may benefit GreenMet’s clients and projects. Support preparation for meetings with members of Congress, congressional staff, federal agencies, and senior government officials. Coordinate government engagement activities across multiple client projects and ensure consistent follow-up with key stakeholders. Conduct research and provide strategic analysis on policy issues affecting GreenMet’s clients and target markets. Work closely with GreenMet leadership and project teams to translate policy developments into actionable strategies. Maintain detailed records of government engagement, policy developments, stakeholder relationships, and relevant legislative activity. Represent GreenMet professionally in meetings, briefings, conferences, and other external engagements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government, international affairs, communications, business, or a related field. Strong interest in U.S. government, public policy, and the legislative and regulatory process. Excellent research, writing, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to quickly understand complex policy issues and translate them into clear, actionable analysis. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment. High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail. Experience with congressional offices, federal agencies, political organizations, or public policy is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with critical minerals, energy, defense, manufacturing, trade, or national security policy is a plus. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and work independently. What You’ll Do at GreenMet This is an externally focused, hybrid role based in Washington, DC, with significant exposure to senior government and industry stakeholders. The Government Affairs Specialist will play an important role in helping GreenMet navigate the federal policy landscape, advance government affairs strategies, and support strategic opportunities for the firm and its clients. The successful candidate will be proactive, curious, politically and commercially aware, exceptionally organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. The role offers the opportunity to develop meaningful experience in government affairs, federal policy, strategic business development, and external engagement while working closely with GreenMet’s senior leadership and clients. #J-18808-Ljbffr GreenMet
